Description

Introduction:
The NuMicro® M263ZIAAE is a microcontroller platform based on the Arm® Cortex®-M23 core for Armv8-M architecture. It is an advanced semiconductor device manufactured by Nuvoton, targeting the rapidly growing sectors of IoT and smart device applications. Operating within a temperature range of -40 ℃ to +105 ℃, and designed for low power demand and high-level security, this microcontroller fulfills the complex demands of modern IoT systems with a mix of high performance, low power consumption, and robust security features.

Function & Applications:
The NuMicro® M263ZIAAE integrates a variety of functions, ideal for IoT node devices, USB host/device for data transfer, and industrial and automotive applications requiring CAN Bus for data communication. It is particularly equipped to power Smart Home Appliances, Industrial Control Systems, Security Alarm Systems, Portable Wireless Data Collector, and Handheld Medical Devices. It also provides multi power modes - including Power-down and Fast Wake-up Power-down, which make it capable of handling various operating scenarios to maintain energy efficiency.

Performance Parameters:
The power consumption metrics of the NuMicro® M263ZIAAE are impressive, rating as low as 97 µA / MHz (LDO mode) and 45 µA / MHz (DC-DC mode) in normal run mode, and less than 2µA in Deep Power-down mode without VBAT, making it suitable for battery-powered IoT applications. Its other standout features include a 32-bit hardware multiplier/divider, 512 KB flash memory for over-the-air (OTA) upgrades, and a 96 KB SRAM.

Package Types, Interface & Pin Configuration:
The NuMicro® M263ZIAAE is available in QFN33 (5 mm x 5 mm) package type. It stands out with multiple interfaces including 6 LP UART, 3 I2C, and 1 Q SPI, providing high flexibility for device integration. For pin configuration, it leverages Nuvoton's PinConfigure tool for efficient pin assignment and code generation.

Reliability & Lifespan:
Being a part of the M261/M262/M263 series, the M263ZIAAE exhibits high reliability and long lifespan. It operates within a broad temperature range of -40℃ to +105℃ and accommodates low supply voltage from 1.8V to 3.6V, guaranteeing reliable performance under various operating conditions.

Standards & Certifications:
Alongside the AES-256/192/128 hardware accelerator and True Random Number Generator (TRNG) for data encryption, the M263ZIAAE includes a 96-bit Unique Identification (UID) and a 128-bit Unique Customer Identification (UCID). These features provide robust security, prove the microcontroller's adherence to best practices for data protection, and demonstrate its compliance with industry standards.

Application Cases & Reference Designs:
The application spectrum for the M263ZIAAE is broad. From Smart Homes and Industrial Automation to Security Alarm Systems and Powerful Medical Devices, its combination of low power operation, high performance, and security make it an ideal choice of microcontroller for versatile applications. The comprehensive functions and operations can be evaluated using the Nuvoton NuMaker M261 / M262 / M263 evaluation boards (NK-M263KI) and onboard Nu-Link debugger. Subsequently, support is provided for 3rd Party IDEs such as Keil MDK, IAR EWARM, and NuEclipse IDE with GNU GCC compilers to facilitate product development.
