What is DDR2 SDRAM?

DDR2 SDRAM can provides higher bandwidth to improve performance than DDR.

Because the prefetch of DDR2 is 4bit which is higher than DDR(prefetch is 2bit).

That’s the reason DDR2 can provide double performance due to it increasing the I/O clock.

 

What are the benefits of Winbond DDR2 SDRAM?

Higher performance:

While DDR2 SDRAM has 4bit prefetch that is higher than DDR(prefetch is 2bit), double performance can be provided by the protocol.

Compared to the standard DDR SDRAM, DDR2 SDRAM can work with faster CPUs to provide better performance, making the system more efficient.

Winbond DDR2 SDRAM can provide a frequency up to 533MHz.

 

Build in the new function OCD(Off-Chip Driver) and ODT(On-Die Termination):

The main function of OCD is to adjust the voltage of the I/O interface, it compensates the resistor values of pull-up and pull-down. Adjust the synchronization between DQS and DQ to ensure signal integrity and reliability.

ODT is the relocation of the terminal resistance to the inside of the chip, eliminating the need for a terminal circuit on the board. This allows the signal to be absorbed by the termination circuit without forming reflections on the circuit, which would otherwise affect the back-end signal. It also saves cost and circuit space.

DDR2 SDRAM is a widely used memory technology that can be applied to various types of computers and electronic devices to improve their performance and responsiveness.
