Description

Introduction:
The NuMicro® M484 USB High Speed (HS) On-The-Go (OTG) series is a specialized line of high performance, low power microcontrollers introduced by Nuvoton Technology Corporation. An integral product of this series is M484SIDAE. This chip is equipped with the Arm® Cortex®-M4F core with DSP extension, providing a robust platform for extensive device control. The chip is configured to run at a speed up to 192 MHz, making it stand out in its class with its dynamic low power consumption rated at 175 µA/ MHz.

Function & Applications:
One of the key functionalities provided by M484SIDAE is Over-The-Air (OTA) firmware upgrade, enabled by its 512 KB embedded dual bank Flash memory. Further adding to its processing capabilities, the chip includes 160 KB embedded SRAM with 32 KB cache which accelerates external SPI Flash code execution. The device features an on-board Secure Boot functionality using a pre-loaded bootloader, ensuring the integrity of embedded Flash memory code. It further offers a secure environment for storage of confidential program or data through its embedded 4KB Secure Protection ROM. A One-Time-Programmable ROM is also part of its design to support product lifecycle management. M484SIDAE is essentially designed for use in USB Adapters, USB Sensor Hubs, and similar applications demanding high performance microcontroller systems.

Performance Parameters:
Powered by the Arm® Cortex ®-M4F core that delivers 1.25 DMIPS per MHz, the M484SIDAE operates at a maximum frequency of 192 MHz. Memory architecture of the chip includes a 512 KB zero-wait state Flash memory, a 160 KB RAM with an external 32 KB SPI Flash cache, a 4 KB Secure Protection ROM, and a 2 KB OTP ROM.

Available in a LQFP64 package type, the M484SIDAE is designed for versatility with two sets of on-chip high speed and full speed USB 2.0 interfaces. The controller includes a comprehensive set of interfaces including UART, ISO-7816, I²C, SPI Flash, Quad- SPI, SPI / I²S, I²S, USCI, and SD Host Controllers.
