KA44171A is Pre Driver IC for Single Phase Brushless Motor. DC or PWM signal can be applied for motor speed control input. It also has APRaS (Advance Phase and Rapid Soft switching) which optimizes high speed operation of the motor by reducing the noise and vibrations. It is a Pre Driver IC which means it will drive power transistors connected to the motor and not the phase windings of motor directly. It can also be called a gate driver which acts as an intermediary between controller and power MOSFETs. It is very versatile in the voltage ranges of the motor which can be connected to the IC as it can drive single phase motors at voltage level of 12V, 24V and 48V at a high efficiency of operation. It utilizes PWM soft switching function and motor current phase setting enables motor current direction to switch smoothly, achieve high efficiency and silent driving. Wide supply voltage range allows use of various external power MOSFET which can be selected according to motor intended to be used. The use of pre driver IC makes the control over BLDC motors even better as it gives the control in the hand of designer to use the external power MOSFET/transistors according to specified speed as per the demand of application.
KA44171A is equipped with APRaS (Advanced Phase and Rapid Soft switching) to optimize high speed motor performance.
